A Christian is a disciple, an apprentice in today's language; and essential to following Jesus is continued learning as we gradually grow to be more like Him. Let's begin this session with an introductory video which sets this in context....
This whole course is about developing a balanced Way of Life following Jesus and we learn things daily as we go about our lives, as we pray, as we talk to other people. It's about balancing the Up (to God), In (to other Christians) and Out (in service to the world)
This Waymark builds on that understanding and helps us think about more intentional learning and growth as Christians. There are things we can do, access or get involved with that deepen our discipleship journeyMost people though have a preferred learning style.
The video below is set with the school context but we can still apply the learning styles to our own lives, whatever stage we are at. As you watch, is there a style (or a mix of styles?) which you think might apply to you?
So, do you see yourself in there somewhere? What has worked for you in the past?
What are your preferred learning style(s)?
Visual?
Auditory?
Reading/Writing?
Hands On?
A combination?
The whole of life is a learning experience for followers of Jesus but it's good to invest some time in our spiritual growth.
How can you begin to build intentional learning and growth into your rhythm of life?
The questions in the handbook (downloadable below) will help get you started, also below are various links to resources which, depending on your learning style(s) may make a difference.
This website (Community of Soul Friends) has many opportunities for learning - See 'This is Discipleship' and 'Resources' in the menu at the top of this page.
As always, if it helps, do find someone you can talk these things through with.
